I had every intention of doing it...
...and...it still didn't happen. New Skool. New Music and check out my favourite spot in Winnipeg!
We tend to experience seasons or phases of inspiration and creativity. Especially for us juggling a few too many things all at once. I am a brilliant example of this of which I would like to improve. So this “messy action” - just getting the task off my desk, is where it’s at.
What do I mean when I say “Messy Action”? I mean, do the thing without the need to feel like it’s perfect. Take the action. In our highly therapized world (is that a word?) we seem to get lost in this “healing” phase. The symptoms look and sound like this: “I’m figuring out my next steps…”
“I’m going to take it easy here and listen to my body…”
“ I feel like I need to just wait and see what happens…”
Similar bullshit lines are no more than misguided attempts to stay safe. To protect oneself from all that is scary on the other side of change.
Here’s where the money is…
Take action.
You’ll do much better with the mantra of “Ready Fire Aim” than you think.
We humans are incredibly versatile and adaptable. Take the shot, ask the pretty girl out, look for a raise, send that email, and make things happen.
Stop waiting for the perfect moment. That will never* exist.
Before we get into my writing, here’s my ask of you…
I created my dream community over on Skool. I would love it if you joined. 🤘🏼
It’s specially designed to help musicians, artists and creatives level up their game both on stage and backstage and - I truly believe everyone has an Inner Rockstar in them so… I will not be kicking you out if you want to join the community.
If it’s not your jam, please consider sending it to one of your musician pals. They could be an emerging artist, recreational weekend warrior… you name it... Even if they’re not (yet) an established musician there’s a ton of value to be shared over there. Some great conversations and connection already!
We talk about all sorts of creative endeavours and connect through the international language of music. Click below to grab a FREE seat and help us all grow together at the #1 FREE Skool Community for emerging artists who are looking to breakout and make it in music as the most creative versions of ourselves...
OOOOH! That reminds me. Seeing as we’re talking about seasons… it’s worthy noting I had the most productive year of my life last week! ( Yes, you read that right…)
One of the things I’m most proud of was the amount of creative production I was able to bang out… I released 4 albums, a quiz that helps people unleash their Inner Rockstar and I opened up pre-sales for the card deck to go with it. It’s going to be a critical part of my coaching system and I’m so excited to unleash it into the world.
I’ve included all the links below, so please take a peek if you’re into it.
Alright, now into the story I was meant to share two weeks ago…
Wellness Meets Performance Art: Winnipeg’s Best Kept Secret, Thermea is a Wellness Sanctuary in a League of Their Own
As I write this, we have just hit cruising altitude. I’m on my way home from Winnipeg back west to Calgary, I’m taken a back by the 30,000 foot view. What a perfect day. I’ve got the sun setting to the west, the plots of farmland peeking through the big, fluffy, cotton-candy-esque clouds… it’s like a scene from a movie. A perfect cap to a rejuvenating day off. And of course as I write that, Big Wild’s “She’s Magic” pops on.
Is this what heaven looks like? Go check that dong out for auditory enlightenment…
As the Trusted Authority of Musician Wellness, I find myself on the hunt for the best spots to maintain my wellness on the road. I’m sure I’m in good company when I say that living out of a suitcase can be a challenge to keep things like fitness, relaxation and nutrition in check.

In this week’s edition of Tour Thoughts, I want to take you along for a behinds the scenes look at one of my new favourite spots in Winnipeg. Actually, in all of Canada! Now, I know - that’s a bold statement… and I stand by it. The place is called Thermea. it’s located on the south side of Winnipeg and it’s an absolute must see for any of my fellow touring artists.
I’d like to invite you to close your eyes and imagine popping on your favourite swim wear, throwing a nice cosy bathrobe over top and stepping outside to see an in-ground hot tub, warm pool, cold pool - all right under the natural light of the daytime sun…
Taking it all in with a big belly breath, you quietly stroll through the beautifully adorned brick patio and make your way to the two wet aromatic steam rooms, Vaporo. After a 10 minute Eucalyptus-fused sweat, you put your brave face on and step under a gushing waterfall, pouring 15 degrees C into the two level cold tub, nicknamed Polar Ber. You notice your focus is sharp, your body is relaxed and a big ‘ol smile appears across your face… a sight as unlikely as an Oasis reunion.
After another round of steam and cold pool, you hear a gong and make your way to the big dry sauna. This is the flagship Auffguss, roughly translated to for
If you have yet to visit this spot, make sure you add a day off to your tour itinerary on your next stop in Winnipeg. And make sure you clear your day. Once you get there, you’re going to want to stay there… (I know. I’ve dozed for an hour or two in the hammocks in the Zen garden…!)
From the warm welcome you receive immediately upon checking in, to the pristine cleanliness and culture of respect to the incredibly talented performance staff - this spot takes self-care healing to another planet. It’s a must-see stop on any touring musician’s agenda, so be sure to drop in and say hey.
