With Love, Live Wild: A Love Letter To My Younger Self From The Farm
The holidays are a busy time for all of us. For some, it’s also a very difficult time in relation. Friends, family…exes… relationships are strained and punctuated with the cheer of season. Nostalgia sings loud at this time of year.
The holiday season is one of the hardest times for me to just be quiet. So earlier today out on the family farm, I took the time to connect with my 12 year-old self in the quiet cold front yard.
I’ll cut to the chase…
Love is powerful.
I’ve learned some things over the years… Here are 4 things I would tell my younger self to keep him cool, calm and collected when he was scared out of his mind of being alone and unlovable.
- Spend time with the people you love. Call them. Send them some love. Let them know what they mean to you.
- These same people are typically those who show you the love you so deserve. Keep them close. Listen to them. Believe them when they say what you mean to them.
- And rather than running from all the difficult conversations and doing the “positive vibes only ✌🏻” bs, get curious about the ones who you’d rather cancel… there’s a lesson in there. Love them even harder. They’re just a reflection of your shadow, anyway…
- Most importantly, Be Kind. Everyone is going through sh*t. They’re busy waging wars inside themselves they’re totally oblivious to, so lighten up. Life is way too short. Put down what you are carrying.
Merry Christmas. Happy holidays. Whatever you’re celebrating, celebrate it hard and love always.
