Entering hibernation
On protecting energy, listening to your heart, gut and the silence in between.
This space has been a place for slowing down, listening, and finding my footing again. Heck, with all the changes every few months you’d think I was trying to be Prince or The Artist, or The Artist Formerly Known as Prince… 🙄
I get it.
Every time I switch I risk losing you. And I can see why you’d feel that way…
I’m constantly changing…
I’m moving big ideas all the time…
I’m in pursuit of the “in-the-moment” vibes…
Crazy… I must sound like a flippant artist or something…
And funny that, ‘cause I heard two of my favourite artists of all time, Dan Mangan and Shad yapping about the role of the artist (you can go take a listen here)
…Shad said something to the effect of: “the artist’s job is to express what is truly inside of only them… they’re the one who drops their armour first and that brave act inspires others to follow suit in their own way.”
I thought that was neat.
I like that.
And this Substack has been a testing ground of my trying on different costumes to truly express how I want to express.
It did what it needed to do. After my Wolf Moon ceremony last night, I had a big ass download. It’s clear to me I want to build community with my art.
It’s special. And that takes time. And belongs elsewhere.
Right now, my work here is moving into a new season… one that’s more grounded, practical, and integrated into how I help people day to day.
I’m placing this project into hibernation while I build a nice little home for it in another corner of the internet.
Not ending it. Not erasing it. I’ll even keep a seperate column going for those of you who are into the introspective stuff…
For now, I’m choosing to let it rest and focus on what one of my mentors, Elliot would say: “providing value = helping real people solve their real people problems. Stop creating solutions to problems that exist only in your head.”
Tuff luv. 💔
If you want to continue following my work, I’m writing now as MusicFit Underground, where my favourite things; music, movement, and practical mindset lead the way. So yeah.. really…same kind of stuff, just a new (old) name that provides a clearer channel for people to get all the fun things I like to yap about. This change allows me to talk music, fitness and everything in between much more succinctly.
I appreciate your understanding. They say the only consistency is inconsistency. That’s life, right?
The deeper work will stay protected. More to come on that soon…
And if this shift ends our time together…
Thank you for walking with me out here.
We’ll meet again when the time is right. 💫
